Red Riding Hood (2011)

From director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight,"Thirteen," "Lord of Dogtown") comes the romantic fantasy thriller "Red Riding Hood."

 Synopsis:

 The film features an esemble cast, led by Amanda Seyfried ("Letters to Juliet," "Mamma Mia!") in the little role. The film also stars Gary Oldman ("The Dark Knight," the "Harryy Potter" films),Billy Burke (the "Twilight" films), Shiloh Fernadez ("Skateland"), Max Irons ("Dorian Gray"), Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen ("Sideways"), and Oscar Winner Julie Christie ("Way from Her, "Darling").

In "Red Riding Hood," Seyfried plays Valerie, a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outside, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her Parents have arrange for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run awasy together when they learn that Valerie's older sister has been killed by the werewolf that powls the dark forest surrounding their village.

For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has supped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. But Solomon's arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them.

As the death tool rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. As panic grips them town, Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast-one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect and bait.

Hardwicke is directing "Red Riding Hood" from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson ("Orphan"). The film is being produced under the banner of Appian Way by Jennifer Davission Killoran (Orphan"), Leonardo DiCaprio, and Julie Yorn (upcoming "Unstoppable"), with Jim Rowe, Michael Irelan and Catherine Hardwicke serving as executive producers.

The behind the scenes creative team is led by director of photography Mandy Walker ("Australia"), two-time Oscar nominated production designer Thomas Sanders ("Saving Private Ryan," "Dracula"), Editor Nancy Richardson ("Twilight," "Step up"), costume designer Cindy Evans ("Marley & Me," " Thirteen," "North Country"), composer Brian Reitzell ("30 Days of Night," "Friday Night Light"), and visual effects supervisor Jeffery A. Okun ("The Day the Eartch Stood Still," " Blood Diamond").

The film will be released March 11, 2011 by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
